Following the Byre Theatre's sudden closure, I was asked to return as Artist in Residence for StAnza 2013, with a view to comparing and contrasting two different festivals. So continuing my journey from ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ I have created ‘Found on the Road North’.
Whilst out walking I picked up objects and detritus thrown away as useless. Common place things, brought back to my studio and given new life with text and mixed media and put into a box frame for the viewer to look again, reflect and contemplate our perception of their utility. "Found on the Road North" included this new work and also exhibited some pieces from ‘The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ which finally found their way to the Byre Theatre where the exhibition was held.
